Dress Code

Ditch the jacket and tie and business attire! This year's GRC dress code is Aloha Business Casual. What does that mean?

  • Jeans, capris, pants and shorts are acceptable.
  • Hawaiian attire, such as shirts or dresses, are encouraged!
  • Casual footwear, such as Vans or sandals, are also acceptable.

Remember, the GRC is still a professional event!

  • Wearing jeans? We know they are trendy but be sure your jeans do not have holes or tears.
  • Bringing shorts? They also need to be free of holes or tears. Leave the baggy cargo shorts at home or save them for down time.
  • Those comfy shoes? Save the flip flops and Tevas for pool side activities or excursions.

Ground Transportation

Please visit the Kona International Airport website for a list of ground transportation options including rental cars, shuttles and taxi service.

Protests

Geothermal Rising is prepared for the anticipated protests at this year's conference. We believe in all peoples' rights to express their views and encourage all GR attendees to refrain from engaging with protesters.

Geothermal Rising has a policy that we do not remove negative or inaccurate comments on social media platforms unless the comment is hateful, violent, uses foul language, or specifically references a person in an abusive or harassing manner.

Weather

The weather forecast for the 2024 GRC includes plenty of warm sunshine! The average high temperature during our time in Hawai'i will be in the mid-80s with overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s. You can check the latest forecast here

If you are participating in one of the GRC Field Trips or plan some off-property excursions on your own, please be aware that temperatures vary across the island especially areas at higher elevations. Please be sure to check the forecasts for specific regions that you are visiting and dress in layers!
