Geothermal in Hawai'i
Hawai'i leads the nation in its aggressive goals for the use of renewable energy with a commitment to be completely "coal free by 23" and state laws that require 100% clean energy in a little over 20 years. It makes sense - Hawai'i has an abundance of geothermal resources, plenty of sunshine and a plethora of steady breezes all of which are being harnessed to help Hawai'i set the standard as a renewable energy paradise.
Did you know? The Big Island of Hawai'i, the site of the 2024 Geothermal Rising Conference, gets approximately 30% of its energy from a geothermal plant that gets heat from the Kilauea volcano.
