Panel 4A: Ambient-Temperature Loop Geothermal Networks: From Demonstration to Nationwide Deployment
Time: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Description
Ambient-temperature loop thermal energy networks, or district energy systems, are growing in popularity as a solution to decarbonize heating and cooling loads. However, despite a growing number of installations, they are still often looked upon as niche or bespoke solutions. We seek to gather leaders from a variety of backgrounds such as industry, government, national labs, and academia to discuss lessons learned from existing systems, current research, and demonstration activities, and a pathway towards widespread deployment of such systems. We hope this panel will provide a forum for engineers, researchers, developers, and other stakeholders in ambient temperature thermal energy networks and can facilitate transfer of knowledge from operating field sites to modelers and new developers.
