Ian Warren
Zanskar Geothermal & Minerals
Principal Geoscientist
Ian is a geoscientist with demonstrated success working in the geothermal and minerals exploration industries applying geology, geochemistry, and geophysics to explore, discover, develop, and manage geothermal and mineral resources. His research background includes a Ph.D. from The University of Auckland, multiple peer-reviewed publications, and reviews of diverse manuscripts submitted for publication and proposals for DOE funding. He is a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists. Ian has served as Principal Investigator for DOE-funded research focused on mapping of geothermal permeability in the subsurface using passive seismic emission tomography (US Geothermal/Ormat), geothermal representation in power system models (NREL), techno-economic analysis of lithium extraction from geothermal brines (NREL), and co-PI for geophysical innovations to image geothermal systems in ocean-island settings (NREL). He has also played a supporting role in diverse, geothermal-related studies funded by government and industry. Ian is currently Principal Geoscientist at Zanskar Geothermal & Minerals. Prior roles included Senior Geoscientist at NREL, Principal Geologist at Ormat, Chief Geologist at U.S. Geothermal Inc., Project Geologist at Yamana Gold, and Project Geologist at Meridian Gold.
