National Renewable Energy Laboratory

Research Engineer

Juliet Simpson is a research engineer at NREL in the Thermal Energy Systems group. She has experience modeling thermal-fluid systems and performing techno-economic analyses for geothermal energy, district energy networks, and other renewable systems. Juliet’s current focus is modeling system-level and nation-wide fifth-generation geothermal district energy systems for heating and cooling. She also has experience with cost and value metrics, wind energy, and compressed air energy storage, along with an interest in thermal storage and long-duration energy storage. Juliet received her PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia (2022) and her BS in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University (2018).
