Idaho National Laboratory
Research Scientist
Trevor Atkinson is a research geologist at Idaho National Laboratory, specializing in the evaluation of geological properties related to movement, heat transfer, water transport, and solid mechanics in geological systems. He contributes to the Geothermal Energy and Subsurface Systems group by supporting field and laboratory activities, including hydrothermal water-rock interaction experiments to assess geothermal and heat storage potential, as well as subsurface carbon mineralization rates and potential. Prior to joining INL, he gained experience in the geothermal and scientific drilling industries and served as a hydrogeologist for the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, where he conducted groundwater sampling and analysis in collaboration with government officials and subcontractors. He holds a master's degree in geology from Utah State University.
