Trey Gerfers served as board chairman of the Presidio County Underground Water Conservation District for nearly five years before becoming general manager in 2022. He is also chairman of the Presidio County Water Infrastructure Steering Committee and writes a column called “Our Water Matters” that appears every other week in the Big Bend Sentinel. In addition to his work in the groundwater space, Trey is spearheading efforts to develop geothermal resources along the U.S.-Mexico border in Presidio County where has lived since 2013.
